GENEVA — Dignitaries from more than 90 nations descended on Switzerland this week aboard a fleet of private jets to address what organizers called "the single greatest threat facing humanity": the gas stove in your kitchen.
"Every time an ordinary family boils pasta, the planet weeps," said one summit delegate, stepping off a Gulfstream that had flown in directly from a yacht show. "We simply cannot let that continue."
The summit's closing statement calls on citizens to reduce their carbon footprint by 80 percent, eat insects, and stop driving, while exempting attendees "whose work is too important to be inconvenienced."
The leaders departed Friday, many flying separately to the same destination.
